Artist Profile:

Lee Ransom Quincy

A graduate of Vermont College and Sacred Heart University with a BA in Graphic Design, Lee Quincy studied painting throughout her years in Stamford, CT, under private studio sessions and at the Stamford Museum and Silvermine in New Canaan, CT, with additional studies during her college years.

After a long absence from the art world while she raised a family, Lee moved to Cape Cod in retirement. The beauty and light of days on the Cape quickly captured her heart. Beginning with four years of watercolor study, she moved to pastels and fell in love with the medium.

Lee paints the dunes of Nauset and the surrounding area because they are so fragile and fleeting. Capturing them at each stage of their development and final erosion is so important. The life of the dunes is perilous and recording them in the moment is critical to preserving the true history of Cape Cod.

A true multi-media artist, Lee also works with acrylic, watercolor and oil and enjoys combining pastel with each.

About Lee R. Quincy

“I love the tactile feel of pastels. They are so intimate and sculptural. I don’t feel removed from my paintings but directly involved in every stroke as I shape a picture. I love how immediate pastels are from the very first stroke you’ve made a lasting impression on your canvas!“
